A. Maximilian Mager

Max focuses his practice on helping clients protect the value of their innovations in mechanical, electromechanical, and computer-related technologies, with particular depth in automotive technologies and systems.

He provides strategic intellectual property counseling across the patent lifecycle, advising clients on domestic and international patent procurement strategies tailored to their technical, business, and competitive objectives.

Max works closely with inventors to identify protectable innovations, evaluate invention disclosures and relevant prior art, and develop patent strategies. He prepares and prosecutes U.S. and international patent applications. His practice includes analyzing complex claim rejections, developing strategies to advance prosecution, and drafting responses to office actions. He also conducts patentability searches and infringement analyses, helping clients assess risk, make informed decisions, and strengthen their intellectual property positions.

With a professional background in engineering, Max brings a practical, technology-informed perspective to every engagement. This industry experience gives him firsthand insight into the engineering and product-development processes his clients navigate, enabling him to provide counsel that is both technically rigorous and commercially focused.

Previous Work and Industry Experience

Before entering the legal profession, Max served as a Propulsion System Interface Validation Engineer in General Motors’ Global Propulsion Systems group. 

Life Beyond Law

Outside of law, Max and his wife are proud new parents of their son.  Max is an avid fisherman and boater, as well as a classic car enthusiast.  Max also enjoys skiing during the winter months and playing hockey, squash, and golf. As someone who resides in southeast Michigan, Max is a close follower and fan of Detroit sports.
