Volpe and Koenig Celebrates National Inventors Day at Willard Elementary

On February 11, 2020, Volpe and Koenig, P.C., celebrated National Inventors Day with a special presentation to the fourth-grade class at Frances E. Willard Elementary School in the Kensington Section of Philadelphia. Firm shareholder and intellectual property attorney Michael F. Snyder taught this interactive class about inventions and the innovation process, designed to encourage Philadelphia’s next generation of inventors. The presentation addressed local, diverse and well-known inventors and the problems they were able to solve. It also reminded the students that they are inventors themselves, and will encourage students to keep inventing.

In addition to the Inventors Day Presentation, Volpe and Koenig is providing a financial donation to support the school’s Sensory Room, which is where the school works with its students to improve sensory integration.

Since it was founded in 1987, Volpe and Koenig has been committed to supporting nonprofits and community initiatives in the Philadelphia community, and incoming president John C. Donch Jr. is committed to carrying on this tradition. The firm’s partnership with Willard Elementary is especially important to John as both his wife and mother were elementary educators and his high school classmate, Maria Quinn, is the Special Education Compliance Monitor for the school.

“I am proud to begin my term as President of Volpe and Koenig by supporting Frances E. Willard Elementary School,” said firm President John Donch. “I plan on continuing our firm’s long tradition of not only providing financial support to our community, but also being an active participant and we are honored to work with Willard to help educate and inspire Philadelphia’s next generation of inventors and leaders.”

Diana Garcia, Principal of Willard Elementary School said, “It is through these types of partnerships that we are able to enhance the educational experiences for our students. Willard is honored to be working with Volpe and Koenig and we thank them for their generosity and time.”
