Volpe Koenig Founding Partner Anthony Volpe Retires
Anthony S. (“Tony”) Volpe, who co-founded the Intellectual Property boutique Volpe Koenig with C. Frederick (“Fred”) Koenig, III in 1987, retired as of June 1, 2025.
As a founding shareholder and chair of the firm’s litigation practice, Tony had the honor of working alongside an exceptional team of legal professionals to counsel clients worldwide in multiple industries – including automotive, medical, consumer goods and wireless communications. Tony leaves behind a firm well-equipped to deliver the dedicated service and unwavering commitment to excellence instituted and sustained since the firm’s founding in 1987.
Tony also enjoyed shepherding new and veteran attorneys, acting as a long-standing advisor, mentor, and friend to all. Tony was instrumental in the creation of the firm’s “IPromise” campaign which annually recognizes a regional non-profit organization with a $40,000 grant.
A native Philadelphian, Tony was personally involved in giving back to the community and served as a trustee of the Bucks County Historical Society and the Mercer Museum, which is dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the rich history and culture of Bucks County and the Delaware Valley region.
“I’ve been privileged to work side-by-side with such a talented team of professionals and friends all these years,” said Tony. “In my nearly 50 years career, I witnessed the ever-evolving and fast-paced world of intellectual property and believe Volpe Koenig remains an independent IP boutique because of the incredible hard-working professionals and the wonderful clients who trust in us to act as their partners in all sorts of IP issues.”
While the news of Tony’s retirement is bittersweet, everyone at Volpe Koenig will fondly remember him as a tireless and fearless advocate, mentor, advisor and friend. Tony will continue to offer support as a mentor and advisor for those who need it, but he is looking forward to enjoying his retirement with his wife, Sue, and spending time with his family.
